Turkey has to offer amazing movies that you might not know of. I have been following Turkish entertainment for quite some time now and I can vouch for the cinematic quality and story they offer. Whether it is romance, comedy, drama or horror, Turkish movies offer a refreshing alternative to mainstream content.
However, watching them with subtitles gives me a headache. There are also scenes of kid comedy and romance when the heroine meets a suave bachelor who may take care of her son.
5- My Father’s Violin

If you are a big fan of Engin Altan Duzyatan, the main lead in Dirilis Ertugrul and Barbaroslar, you should watch My Father’s Violin next. This movie is about how an eight-year-old orphaned girl bonds with a successful violinist uncle. I bet you will get emotional in many scenes watching this masterpiece.

Paper Lives is a personal favourite. It has changed the way I look at refuse collectors. Mehmet, the main lead character, manages a solid waste warehouse in Istanbul and helps homeless children and teenagers. He then meets an 8-year-old boy, Ali, who Mehmet looks after well and tries to reunite with his family, only to find unexpected truth in the end. This is one of those movies that you could never guess the ending of.
8- The Festival of Troubadours

Shot in Anatolia, The Festival of Troubadours expresses the real cultural theme with great cinematography. The plot revolves around Yusuf and his father Heves Ali, who shows up at his son’s door after 25 years. The son learns about his dad’s situation and struggles with his feelings towards him.
