Alarmingly American and alarmingly pro fluoride. Your response to the above writer was off base. Fluoride might be important to children who drink well water, but there is no proof that it prevents cavities and some thinkers think it increases cavities. If you brush your teeth after meals and don’t go to bed without brushing you can brush with just water. Please keep up with theories.

Firstly, this article is targeted at individuals “looking for toothpastes” or who want to know about the most popular toothpaste brands.
We’re in no way advocating fluoride, or fluoride based toothpastes, or even the use of toothpaste to anyone who doesn’t want to use them :).
Neither are we pro-fluoride. We can even do a separate post on fluoride-free toothpaste brands if you would like.
As far as the research is concerned, there are of course different opinions on this matter but as I said before, even from an unbiased point of view, based on hundreds of clinical trials, the majority of researchers are in favor of fluoride toothpaste.
I too can cite several latest research papers here for your reference:
2013 study concluding that high-fluoride toothpaste showed better results in adults as compared to regular toothpastes
2014 Research Paper concluding that there is strong evidence that brushing with fluoride-containing toothpaste is more effective than brushing with non-fluoride toothpaste.
2018 study concluding that fluoride is the key to prevention and control of tooth decay
Once again, I’m not saying whether any of these researchers are right or wrong.
I personally believe in the “live and let live philosophy”. So for me, if someone wants to use fluoride toothpaste, they should do that and if someone chooses to brush with water, then that’s cool too. It’s an individual choice that we can all make for ourselves.
